SCANDINAVIAN SHOOTING HEADS FOR SPEY
We have in stock Scandi heads from both Guideline and Rio.
The Guideline Power Taper DC (Direct Contact) Head is a low stretch dual density line, (Higher density in the tip to get, and stay, down). These lines are also density compensated for flat sink and to stay in the strike zone longer. They are 48ft long and designed to be "tuned" by trimming from the back to fit your fishing situation, (rod weight, length and wading depth etc. Should all be considered when tuning your line). We can help.
Available in six different densities for each of four different line sizes, as well as the DDC CONNECT versatile system.
We stock the most common configurations of these lines and are happy to special order the uncommon request.

The RIO AFS (ADVANCED FLIGHT SPEY) SHOOTING HEAD is Rio's latest for the spey caster specifically interested in the Scandinavian style of fishing. These heads range in length from 31-42ft, (they are "pre-tuned"), and are available in four line sizes and three densities for each line size. Also available is the AFS SHOOTING HEAD KIT Which includes a shooting line, floating head and three densities of versatile leaders.

Spey Gathering on the Muskegon River

Toni Karuvaara, from Guidelins Sweden will be demonstrating Underhand Casting and using Spey casts with a single hander and shooting heads.
Jack Cook, representing Guideline North America, will be explaining and demonstration Guideline products from a West Coast perspective. This will be more of a fishing than a casting demo.
Peter Humphreys, Guideline Pro Staff, FFF THCI/CI, will present a basic spey casting demo, coveritn fine tuning your casting skills (anchor, D-loop, and applying the 180 degree rule).
Neil Houlding FFF THCI/CI, G.Loomis Pro Staff, will be available to assess your spey outfit and will freely give advice on your rod/reel/line combination and your technique or lack thereof.Peter S.C. will be giving a talk with handouts on fly presentation using shooting heads and full sinking lines.
If time allows later in the day, Peter and Neil will give a demonstration of fishing and casting from a boat.
Ari Leiman from Finland will be demonstrating tying tube and pike flies.
